I’ve been using the chi flat iron regularly ever since I bought it a month ago and it works fabulously! It heats up right away and makes my curly hair super smooth instantly. The size of the mini turbo is easy to use and very light to handle. You can also use it to get spiral curls (i suggest you ask a friend because it’s difficult to do a proper job at the back). I think it does a fantastic job and I highly recommend it to everyone! BTW, my hair is 3 inches below my shoulders, thick and coarse…if this iron does a great job for me, it’ll work for anyone.

My hairdresser did my hair with this iron about four months ago and I was shocked at how amazing it looked. I wanted to buy the iron right then, but the price at the salon was far too high, so I got it here on Amazon. I have had no problems with this product, whatsoever, but I do have a few tips to make it an easier experience.

1. Use a glove style hotmitt on your free hand. This allows you to grasp the iron and squeeze the plates together without burning yourself.
2. Squeezing the plates together and moving the iron slowly down from root to tip gives you the best effect. It is time consuming, but very worth it.
3. Use large hair clips and separate your hair into three layers: under layer, middle layer and top. Start with the hair underneath, then pull down the middle and straighten the under and middle together, then pull down your top layer and straighten all three together. Do the hair that frames your face LAST. This helps keep you from sweating if you are sensitive to the heat.
4. Once you’ve finished with the iron, give your hair some short blasts from the “cool” setting on your hair dryer. This will help set the straitening and remove the heat from your hair to help prevent damage.
5. Finally, use a good finishing cream or pommade (VERY lightly, a pea-size amount is usually all you need) to smooth any flyaways around your part and at your ends.

If you take the time to do it right (I have just past shoulder length hair, so it’s 15 to 20 minutes for me) your straight style will last two to three days as long as you don’t get it wet or have the need to wash your hair more than every other day.

I had been using cheap ceramic-plated straighteners, even though my sister, brother in-law, and friends all had been using CHI’s for a few years (and I would borrow every chance I got), but I never could bring myself to buy one b/c of the cost…if you are sick of frizzy, unmanageable hair- it’s worth it! Just be careful! It gets hot instantly, so imagine the damage it can, and will, do to your hair if you don’t protect it!
